A broken line of showers and storms moved through North Texas during the early morning hours. Some areas picked up over two inches of rain, including my backyard, while other locations received very little.
Officially, DFW Airport recorded just 0.02 inches of rain. That's it! One batch of storms moved north of DFW, while another developed south of the airport.
Unfortunately, this was our last rain chance for at least the next seven days. The drought situation in some areas will continue to worsen. However, congratulations to those of you who finally picked up some much-needed rainfall!
It's Election Day Tuesday, so get out and vote, folks! The weather is going to be perfect.
North winds are currently blowing at 8 to 12 mph, but those winds will increase, with gusts of 25 to possibly 30 mph later this morning and especially this afternoon as a second cold front moves through North Texas.
Temperatures aren't going to warm up much today. We're waking up to readings mainly in the mid to upper 60s as the first front moves through the DFW area. Humidity levels will drop rapidly throughout the day, and that comfortable, low-humidity air will stick around all week.
Here's a look at the forecast:
**Tuesday:** Highs in the low 70s with gusty north winds. Overnight lows drop into the upper 40s to mid-50s.
**Wednesday:** Back into the mid-70s with lighter winds. A great day for golf! That's why I'm heading out to play!
**Thursday:** Looking beautiful, with temperatures warming into the upper 70s. Morning lows in the mid-50s.
**Friday:** Another cold front arrives early Friday morning. Unfortunately, there's no moisture to work with, so this will be a dry frontal passage. North winds increase to 10-20 mph, with highs near 70.
**Saturday:** Highs near 70 degrees with comfortable conditions.
**Sunday:** Highs in the low 70s with plenty of sunshine.
**Veterans Day next week:** Temperatures return to the mid-70s.
The bottom line: Beautiful weather is ahead for North Texas, with cool mornings, mild to pleasant afternoons, and low humidity. Unfortunately, no rain is in the forecast for at least the next seven days.
Get out and enjoy this beautiful weather while we have it!
