Areas of dense fog this morning, followed by a beautiful day today, with two cold fronts and more rain on the way. Those are your weather stories over the next 7 days.
Good morning. A dense fog advisory is in effect for the Eastern 2/3 of North Texas until 9:00 a.m. due to dense fog in areas, especially east of DFW. Visibility will be reduced to less than a quarter of a mile in areas, but many areas in DFW will not be affected.
Temperatures this morning range from the mid-40s to the west of DFW and mid to upper 50s elsewhere. The fog will dissipate in the next few hours, giving way to a beautiful day today with plenty of sunshine and afternoon highs reaching 70°.
A cold front is currently moving into Kansas and is expected to arrive in the area shortly after dinner time this evening. No rain is expected to accompany the front. Wind will shift to the north, with gusts reaching 20 mph overnight, decreasing to 5 to 10 miles per hour on Wednesday.
Wednesday is expected to be the busiest travel day of the year, with airports and roadways anticipated to be busy across the five-state area. Good news....the weather won't be a factor. Temperatures on Wednesday will be cooler, with morning lows in the upper 30s to mid 40s and afternoon highs reaching the mid 50s.
Thanksgiving Day will be sunny and cool, with morning lows in the upper 30s to low 40s and afternoon highs reaching the mid to upper 60s. No rain is forecasted.
The next weather system is expected to arrive late Friday, with increasing clouds and afternoon highs in the low 60s, which is near average for this time of year.
Scattered showers and isolated non-severe storms will move in after midnight into Saturday. Flooding may become a concern again.
A VERY STRONG cold front will arrive Saturday evening, ushering the coldest air of the fall season. There is a chance for scattered showers and storms along the front, followed by windy and much colder air filtering into the area. Temperatures by Sunday morning will fall close to freezing, with a north wind gusting to 30 mph. Highs will hold in the 40s all day.
An upper-level disturbance will pass to the north late Sunday night and the first half of Monday, bringing a chance of scattered cold rain showers across North Texas. Areas northwest of town may see sleet pellets or snowflakes, but it is too early to determine. The Texas Panhandle may see an inch or two of snow next Monday.
I will be taking Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday off for the Thanksgiving holiday. Have a happy Thanksgiving and please enjoy the weather when you can, it's the only weather you've got!
