Shifting to the tropics, Hurricane Helene continues to strengthen in the eastern Gulf of Mexico. As of 4 a.m., the wind was up to 90 mph making it a Category 2 hurricane. Further strengthening is in the forecast for Thursday as it makes landfall just south of Tallahassee in the eastern panhandle of Florida. Maximum sustained wind could be as high as 115-120 mph. Storm surge 10 to 15 ft east of the center of circulation. Widespread flooding, wind damage, and of course, there's always a tornado threat on the eastern side of the storm.
