Friday: Scattered rain showers and thunderstorms return this evening

Rain returns Friday evening
NWS

1:20 P.M. TROPICAL UPDATE: The 2:00 p.m. EDT update it is in. The NHC gives this area of low pressure a 60% chance of forming into a depression or weak tropical storm before making landfall late tonight into early tomorrow morning along the upper Texas coast. I'll be watching its northwesterly track this weekend.
Some areas across north Texas may receive over 2" of rain between now and Monday. Flooding is a big concern once again, but nothing be severe is expected..Stay tuned!

8 A.M. TROPICAL UPDATE: New statement from the National Hurricane Center as of 8 o'clock this morning.

They are giving this area of disturbed weather a 40% chance of becoming a tropical depression or a weak named tropical storm before midnight tonight. Its name would be "ANA". After that, the center of circulation will be moving ashore and tracking northwest towards north Texas. Its track will determine how much rain we will see here. A brief Flash Flood Watch may be issued by the National Weather Service, depending... again on the track of the system. Some areas could pick up a quick 1 to 2" of rain with isolated higher totals possible.

I will monitor through weekend...nothing severe is expected...not even a lot of thunder with this tropical rain.

A Flash flood watch may briefly be issued for North and central Texas for Saturday and a Sunday morning. Stay tuned!
