High pressure in the upper levels of the atmosphere remains in control until Sunday afternoon. It then briefly retreats west allowing a weak cold front to come into the area. This front will produce scattered showers and thunderstorms the 2nd half of Sunday into Labor Day. More on this cold front shortly.
In the meantime, we're waking up the temperatures in the seventies again and nothing is showing up on the radio. Temperatures will warm again into the upper nineties today and tomorrow, but no heat advisories are in effect. However, it will feel like it's around 102° to 103゚ during peak heating.
Now let's talk about this cold front. Looks like this front is speeding up on its arrival time across north Texas. It may arrive as early as Sunday afternoon, producing scattered showers and thunderstorms. A couple could be strong with gusty wind being the main threat. Not everybody will see rain, but at least it's in the forecast. Afternoon highs will be cooler on Sunday with readings and the low nineties.
Labor Day looks to be partly cloudy and seasonable. There will be some scattered showers and storms around, especially south of Interstate 20. Daytime highs will be in the low nineties again.
Tuesday through Thursday look to be dry... for now, but another weak cold front may slide through the area late Wednesday. Afternoon highs will be in the low to mid nineties through the end of next week.
A peek at next weekend.. I'm going to be keeping an eye on an area of disturbed weather that's presently in the southwestern Caribbean. This blob of moisture will cross the Yucatan early next week and possibly enter the southwestern Gulf of Mexico. There's a chance this could strengthen a little bit and possibly drift north towards the Texas Gulf coast by the end of next week. This is not in stone, but it's something to watch.
