Heat Advisories are back, feeling like 105 degrees

North Texas forecast for August 7, 2025
North Texas forecast for August 7, 2025
National Weather Service

The dog days of summer are upon us. Heat advisories have returned at least through Friday, as an upper-level ridge of high pressure dominates the area.

Good Thursday morning ladies and gentlemen. This summer has been relatively mild in terms of heat, but heat advisories are in effect today and tomorrow, with afternoon highs reaching the upper 90s. Temperatures west of Fort Worth will soar into triple digits. Afternoon heat index values will approach 105 degrees. Remember to stay hydrated and take frequent breaks if working outdoors, and ensure your pets have a cool, safe space.

This upper-level ridge will weaken over the weekend and early next week, resulting in slightly lower afternoon highs. Temperatures will remain hot, with readings in the mid-to-upper 90s throughout the weekend and into the middle of next week. Heat index values will approach 105 degrees, but heat advisories are unlikely to be issued during this period.

Looking ahead to Monday and Tuesday, a few fortunate areas may experience late-day showers or storms, but most regions will remain dry. Temperatures will continue to reach the mid-to-upper 90s during peak heating hours.

Eventually, fall will arrive, bringing relief by late September. Stay cool my friends and enjoy the weather when you can, it's the ONLY weather you've got!
