Thursday marks the last day of Heat Advisories before a slight weekend cooldown. A few lucky ones will see some rain through the period.
Thursday morning began with temperatures in the upper 70s to low 80s with a light south wind. There will be plenty of sunshine with widespread Heat Advisories and an Air Quality Alert. Afternoon highs will range between 100 and 105 degrees, with the hottest temperatures west of Interstate 35W.
There's a cold front that moved through northern parts of the Texas Panhandle and Oklahoma Thursday morning. This front will continue to sag south and should arrive in DFW close to midnight. There is a chance for a few scattered showers and storms along the front as it comes through. Morning lows will drop into the 70s as the wind shifts to the northeast at 5-10 mph.
There will be a few leftover showers Friday morning with a lot of clouds around. This will keep temperatures in the low to mid-90s. More showers and storms will form along the front as it slides south of the Dallas-Fort Worth area during the day. The best chance of rain will be along and south of Interstate 20.
The cold front will become stationary well to the south of DFW this weekend and then wash out by early Monday. A few disturbances will ride in from the northwest, but most of the rain stays in Oklahoma on Saturday. It's a different story on Sunday as the second disturbance comes a little closer to the metroplex. Afternoon highs this weekend will only be in the low to mid-90s, cooler if the clouds stick around over your backyard.
The last of the disturbances roll through Oklahoma Monday morning with a slight chance of showers north of DFW. Otherwise, decreasing clouds by afternoon as temperatures warm into the mid to upper 90s.
Heat Advisories return and so do the triple digits Tuesday and Wednesday. This trend will continue through all of next week.
