It's a stormy morning across North Texas. We've had several special weather statements, including a severe thunderstorm warning, and a flood watch is in effect until 3:00 p.m. this afternoon. Please exercise caution while driving this morning.
Happy Monday, ladies and gentlemen. A stormy morning is unfolding across North Texas, with a long line of storms stretching from Gainesville to downtown Fort Worth and then southwest of Brownwood, Texas. As this line of storms moves across the area over the next 3 to 5 hours, additional warnings may be issued for hail, wind gusts exceeding 60 mph, and dangerous lightning and flooding rains.
One to three inches of rain are possible across a significant portion of North Texas through the noon hour, prompting a flood watch until mid-afternoon. Fortunately, temperatures in the 50s this morning are mitigating the severe weather threat. However, saturated ground from last Thursday's rains is contributing to flash flooding in some areas. Please do not attempt to cross water-covered roadways, and instead, find an alternate route.
Temperatures will remain in the 50s to low 60s until the rain clears after the noon hour. As the rain moves out, sunshine will gradually return from west to east, with temperatures potentially reaching 70°F by day's end.
I am concerned about patchy dense fog tomorrow morning, with morning lows dipping into the 50s. Afternoon highs will approach 70°F on Tuesday.
A cold front will pass through the area by Tuesday evening, bringing no rain but significantly cooler temperatures for the holiday. Morning lows on Wednesday will range from 35 to 42°F, with afternoon highs only reaching the mid-50s. North winds will be moderate, ranging from 10 to 15 mph. On Thanksgiving morning, temperatures will be in the upper 30s to mid-40s, with afternoon highs reaching the upper 50s under plenty of sunshine.
Clouds will rapidly increase on Friday as our next weather system approaches. Afternoon highs will struggle to reach 60°F, with scattered showers developing by late evening.
The forecast for the upcoming weekend is uncertain, with model data varying significantly. I am currently predicting scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms on Saturday, Sunday, and Monday, but this forecast is subject to change. Temperatures will remain in the upper 50s to low 60s throughout the weekend.
Looking ahead to days 8-10, significantly colder temperatures and potential precipitation are possible. Please stay tuned for updates on this forecast.
Drive safely this morning, have a great day, and enjoy the weather when you can, it's the only weather you've got.
