Keep you umbrella handy, more storms are on the way

Tuesday's North Texas forecast for June 10th, 2025
Tuesday's North Texas forecast for June 10th, 2025
National Weather Service

Maintain possession of your umbrella throughout the week, as it will undoubtedly be necessary. Widespread shower and thunderstorm activity has returned to the area, particularly on Wednesday and Thursday. Our active weather pattern will persist through the end of the week.

The first in a series of upper-level disturbances has generated a large area of showers and storms approximately three hours west of us. This morning, a line of storms stretches from just north of Abilene southwest through San Angelo and Ozona in West Central Texas. Over the next several hours, this area of storms will move east-southeast, and areas along and south of Highway 380 will have the greatest chance of showers and storms late this morning through the afternoon. If any severe weather develops, hail and wind will be the primary threats, and these should remain south of Interstate 20 later today. I will continue to monitor the situation. Afternoon highs may reach 90 degrees, depending on cloud cover, but most areas will remain in the 80s.

Our next stronger disturbance will slowly approach our area tomorrow and Thursday. According to the latest data, this upper-level low will move into the Big Bend region late tonight, producing a large area of showers and storms, including a mesoscale convective system (MSC). This system will shift east overnight and affect our area by early tomorrow morning. The upper-level low will continue to slowly move northeast on Wednesday and Thursday, producing a large area of showers and storms, which will be situated virtually on top of us. At that point, we will need to consider the potential for flooding. While severe weather appears likely to remain south of the Dallas-Fort Worth area, I cannot rule out the possibility of a few warnings on Thursday.

Everyone will experience significant rainfall, and I will provide estimated totals tomorrow as new data becomes available. Temperatures will remain in the low 80s on both days. Currently, this upper-level low is forecast to move into Northeast Texas on Friday and slow down. I cannot rule out the possibility of additional afternoon and evening showers and storms on Friday and possibly Saturday before conditions gradually improve on Sunday and early next week.

Temperatures will also rise, with afternoon highs in the upper 80s on Friday, near 90 on Saturday, low 90s on Sunday, and mid-90s on Monday. Heat index values will exceed 100 degrees by then. Summer is approaching.

Have a great day today, and please enjoy the weather when you can, it's the only weather you've got.
