Last day for showers and storms then the faucet shuts off for a while

North Texas forecast for Wednesday June 18, 2025
North Texas forecast for Wednesday June 18, 2025
National Weather Service

One more day of potential showers and storms is anticipated before a period of dry weather sets in through at least early next week.

This morning, we are experiencing a partly cloudy sky with isolated showers and storms located along and north of Highway 380. These systems are moving from west to east and are not expected to impact the Dallas-Fort Worth area this morning. Temperatures are currently in the mid-to-upper 70s, accompanied by high humidity levels. However, a moderate southerly wind is providing some relief from the heat.

Temperatures are expected to rise into the mid-90s this afternoon, with heat index values reaching slightly above 100°F. By late afternoon and evening, a weak front will move in from the south and stall over North Texas overnight. This may lead to scattered showers and storms developing along the front to the north and potentially impacting the area late this evening. Although the severity of these storms is expected to be low, one or two wind warnings cannot be ruled out. All precipitation is anticipated to clear the area before tomorrow morning, with many areas south of I-20 unlikely to receive any rainfall.

A period of dry and hot weather is expected to dominate the region from Thursday through early next week, as a high-pressure system in the upper levels of the atmosphere takes hold. While some morning clouds can be expected, skies will be partly cloudy during the day. Afternoon highs will reach the mid-90s, with heat index values around 103°F. It is essential to stay hydrated and take frequent breaks when working outdoors, and to ensure that pets have access to a cool and comfortable environment.

Make the most of today's weather, it's the only weather you've got.
