Changes are ahead, but not yet.. a bunch of warmth and wind, scattered strong storms late Wednesday, a break in the precip most of Halloween into Friday, and more scattered storms late Friday into the weekend. Those are your weather stories as we start our last week of October.

We're waking up to a clear sky and very mild conditions for this time of the year. Temperatures have only fallen into the low 70s. No jackets necessary today through Wednesday with afternoon highs in the mid to upper 80s today, low to mid 80s Tuesday and Wednesday with morning clouds and afternoon sun. Also, as mentioned above, the wind will be very strong from the south through the period. This puts the area along and west of Interstate 35W in a very high grass fire danger through the period. Please be wary of that.

Our first decent weather change in a while arrives shortly after dinnertime late Wednesday, as a cold front approaches the area. Widespread shower and thunderstorm activity will break out along the front, mainly across the southeastern half of north Texas. There could be some gusty wind and some small hail accompanying the line of storms that forms almost right on top of us.

The sky should slowly clear by Thursday morning. It'll be breezy and cooler with afternoon highs in the low to mid 70s. A decent fall day for Halloween and as of now, it looks okay for the Trick-or-Treaters with temperatures in the 60s.

The front that moves through late Wednesday will slowly drift back to the north Friday through the weekend. That means a southerly wind returns and the moisture will rapidly increase. This combined with a slow moving upper level disturbance moving in from the west will create waves of showers and thunderstorms this weekend. It's still way too early to tell how widespread the coverage will be across north Texas. As of now, it looks like areas northwest of us will see the heaviest rain and possible flooding. Stay tuned.

Depending how fast the system to our west moves through early next week, will depend on how long the rain sticks around here. Once it does move through, the strongest cold front of the season will move through the area cooling us down to below average readings. Unfortunately, we're still over a week away for this significant cool-down.

Remember we've gone through the entire month of October with no measurable rain at DFW airport. This has NEVER happened!! Hoping to break that streak late October 30th evening.

Have a terrific day today, hold on to your hats, and enjoy the weather when you can, it's the only weather you got!
