After a stormy early Sunday, the weather improved rapidly by afternoon, but not before 2 1/4 inches of rain fell at DFW Airport, with higher totals in some places. Due to the saturated ground, clearing skies overnight, and light wind, dense fog developed over all of North Texas on Monday morning. A Dense Fog Advisory is in effect until 9 a.m. The fog will slowly burn off as we head through late morning. Sunshine will return eventually, as temperatures warm into the low to mid-80s.
Tuesday morning will feature temperatures in the low to mid-60s again with some patchy fog around. A south wind picks up and the Gulf of Mexico starts to stream in from the south. No rain is expected on Tuesday for North Texas, but there will be some isolated severe storms along the dryline well to the west of us. Afternoon highs will warm back into the mid-80s.
An upper-level disturbance will approach North Texas Wednesday afternoon and evening. Scattered showers and isolated severe storms are possible. But as of now, I'm not overly concerned about an outbreak. Afternoon highs will reach the mid-80s again.
I'll be tracking a cold front that will be sliding in from the north on Thursday. Scattered showers and isolated severe storms will be possible by late afternoon and evening. I'll have a better idea of the coverage and severity of the storms as we get closer to Thursday.
Slightly dry air will move in on Friday along with slightly cooler temperatures. Afternoon highs will reach the mid 70s.
Extended data is is showing a strong disturbance moving in from the west on Saturday, pushing the front back to the north. It's still way too early to tell how much rain we will see here in North Texas. We'll slowly dry out on Sunday. Afternoon highs this weekend will be in the upper 70s.
