A stormy morning has been unfolding across North Texas, marked by strong gusty winds, hail, and blinding rain. As the storms continue to move out of the area throughout the morning, welcome to a new work week, ladies and gentlemen.

The welcome rain across the area yesterday and this morning has been a pleasant sight. DFW Airport has measured 3/4 of an inch of rainfall so far, just one-hundredth of an inch shy of breaking the daily rainfall record. Storms will continue to head south through the morning hours, followed by decreasing clouds and pleasant conditions for this time of year. Afternoon highs will reach the low 90s.

Please note that it is early August, typically the hottest time of the year. Temperatures will gradually increase as high pressure rebuilds across the area. Afternoon highs tomorrow will reach the mid-90s under partly cloudy skies. Mid-90s will return on Wednesday, followed by upper 90s on Thursday through the weekend. There is a slight chance of storms late on Friday, mainly east of us, with a 20% coverage across North Texas this weekend.

I hope you enjoyed the rain and please take advantage of the pleasant weather while it lasts, as it is the only weather you've got!
