I should proceed with recording seven different weather conditions for the next seven days. Why? Because there will be an absence of significant weather events in the world of meteorology through at least the middle to end of next week. I regret not having more favorable news for fall enthusiasts.
It's Wednesday, October 7th, and you may not be aware that we experienced a weak cold frontal passage yesterday afternoon. Although it produced a few isolated showers, the majority of the area remained dry, including my location. However, it shifted the winds to the north, allowing slightly cooler and drier air to continue filtering into North Texas this morning.
While it's not bone-chilling cold, temperatures are falling into the 60s across much of the area. The humidity prevents it from feeling as cool. Plenty of sunshine, low humidity, and warm temperatures will prevail today, with afternoon highs reaching the mid-to-upper 80s under abundant sunshine.
This week's cold front, currently located south of us this morning, will rapidly lift northward by tonight and into Thursday. Southerly winds will gradually return and pick up as we head towards the weekend. Afternoon highs will reach the upper 80s again on Thursday and Friday, with no precipitation forecasted.
The upper-level ridge of high pressure that has dominated the weather over the past week will return this weekend, anchoring itself over our area through at least the middle of next week. Skies will remain clear, with ample sunshine prevailing and above-average temperatures persisting each day. Daytime highs will reach near 90 degrees, with morning lows ranging from 65 to 70 degrees.
There are indications of cooler air returning to the area, not this weekend but next weekend. Although it won't be a significant cold front, it will be noticeable. We will address this further as we progress through next week. It will eventually become much cooler, as it is fall, but it's taking its time to make a presence in North Texas.
Have a terrific day today, and please enjoy the weather when you can, it's the only weather you've got.
