Friday, May 23, 2025 North Texas Forecast:

We can attribute the stabilization of the atmosphere to the outflow boundary that moved through the area yesterday afternoon. This resulted in numerous storms being diverted, with a distinct boundary established along Interstate 35W. Other areas of the state, particularly the hill country, received welcome rainfall overnight.

Currently, storms are persisting south of Interstate 10 in South Texas this morning. Our region is experiencing a cloudy sky with mild temperatures, ranging from the mid to upper 60s. A stationary front is positioned across the Dallas-Fort Worth area, which will rapidly lift northward today, yielding a partly cloudy, warm, and humid afternoon. Temperatures are expected to reach near 90 degrees.

Isolated strong to severe storms are forecast to develop approximately 300 miles west of our location late this afternoon. These storms, associated with a dry line, will move eastward but are expected to dissipate before reaching the DFW area around midnight. Morning lows will dip into the low 70s, with a cloudy and muggy start to the holiday weekend.

Saturday's forecast includes morning clouds, followed by afternoon sun and warm conditions. Afternoon highs will reach the low to mid-90s, with heat index values approaching 100 degrees. Storms are expected to remain in Oklahoma throughout the day.

Sunday morning will begin with cloudy skies and temperatures in the low 70s. Partial sunshine is expected near 90 degrees for Sunday afternoon. By Sunday evening, a slow-moving cold front will approach from the northwest, bringing widespread shower and thunderstorm activity to the area. Most outdoor activities should be concluded before the storms arrive.

The position of the front will influence new storm development on Monday, with numerous showers and storms forming along the boundary as it drifts south toward the I-10 Corridor. This will bring rain to the area, followed by relatively dry conditions on Tuesday. Temperatures will be significantly cooler behind the front, with Monday's high reaching only the low to mid-70s and Tuesday's high struggling to reach 80 degrees.

Forecast data for next Wednesday and Thursday indicates a return of showers and storms to the area, with afternoon highs near 80 degrees. As we approach this period, the forecast will be refined to provide more precise location, timing, and temperature details.

I will be taking Monday off. Have a terrific weekend and enjoy the weather when you can, it's the ONLY weather you've got!
