North Texas forecast for Wednesday, March 26, 2025.
National Weather Service

Following a night of severe weather with large hail in parts of North Texas, storm activity remained north and east of the Dallas-Fort Worth area through mid-afternoon Wednesday. Additional rain will move in from the south during the second half of Thursday, persisting through mid to late morning on Friday. The severity is expected to remain low.

Hail the size of golfballs affected eastern areas of North Texas on Tuesday, with hail accumulation reaching 4-6 inches in height, particularly in southeast Collin County. This resulted in hazardous travel conditions and significant damage to roofs and windows, especially along and east of Central Expressway. Another area of large hail was reported just north of Cleburne in Johnson County late Tuesday afternoon.

The heaviest rain fell in parts of Collin and northeast Dallas County, extending toward the Sherman-Denison area, where some areas received over 2 inches of rain. DFW Airport recorded slightly less than one-third of an inch.

Wednesday will be relatively uneventful, except for areas north and east of DFW, with some breaks in the clouds. Afternoon highs will range from 75-80 degrees. Thursday morning will bring abundant cloud cover, and mild and muggy conditions, with temperatures only dropping into the mid to upper 60s.

By Thursday afternoon, a large area of rain will move in from the south, causing problems on roadways during the evening commute and into Friday morning. Average rainfall totals are expected to be between 1-2 inches, with the heaviest totals forecasted for Central and East Texas. The rain will move out from west to east during the day on Friday, but clouds will persist. Temperatures will remain in the mid-60s throughout the day.

Looking ahead to the weekend, sunny conditions are expected, but temperatures will be warmer than usual, approaching 90 degrees on Saturday and mid-80s on Sunday. A cold front will move into the area on Sunday afternoon, dropping temperatures early next week. There is a possibility of scattered strong storms along the front, with the best chances south of Interstate 20. Hail and wind will be the primary threats.

Sunny and cool conditions will return early next week, with morning lows in the 40s and afternoon highs in the mid-60s on Monday, warming up to the low 70s on Tuesday.
