Scattered showers and storms remain in the forecast through Tuesday

North Texas 7-day forecast for Monday July 14, 2025
North Texas 7-day forecast for Monday July 14, 2025
National Weather Service

Two additional systems are expected to impact North Texas today and tomorrow, bringing areas of heavy rain and isolated flooding. The unseasonably cool July weather with above-average precipitation is continuing.

The first system, which affected Central Texas yesterday, is now moving across North Texas. Very heavy rain fell south of Dallas in Fort Worth overnight, prompting flood warnings. A new flood warning is in effect until 8:30 Monday morning for areas south of Fort Worth and mainly west of Interstate 35W. These areas have received three to four inches of rain overnight. This mesoscale convective vortex, or MCV, will drift across North Texas today, maintaining the rain in the forecast. Heavy rain, dangerous lightning, and gusty winds are expected in areas.

Currently, the heaviest rain is anticipated to fall in the eastern half of North Texas, spreading into East Texas throughout the day. Afternoon highs will be near 90 degrees.

System number two is moving into the Hill Country, causing widespread flooding in areas that do not need additional rain. Search and recovery efforts will likely be suspended again today along the Guadalupe River. This is unfortunate. The system will drift northeast over the next 24 to 36 hours and may bring scattered showers and storms to North Texas tomorrow.

Morning lows tonight will drop into the mid-70s, with afternoon highs tomorrow reaching the low 90s. The situation with the next system for tomorrow will be monitored. Currently, no flood watches are in effect across North Texas, but the National Weather Service is monitoring the situation today and tomorrow.

By Wednesday, upper-level high pressure will start to build into the area, shutting off rain chances and allowing temperatures to slowly warm up towards the end of the week and especially this weekend. Afternoon highs from Wednesday to Friday will reach the mid-90s, with heat index values slightly above 100 degrees.

The ridge of high pressure will continue to grip the area this weekend, with no rain in the forecast. Afternoon highs will be in the mid to upper 90s, with heat index values approaching 105 degrees. This temperature is the threshold for heat advisories.

Residents across Central Texas and the Hill Country are urged to continue exercising caution, as more rain is forecasted for the next couple of days. They will start to dry out by the middle of the week, similar to North Texas. Please continue to pray for those affected!
