Flooding rains impacted parts of North Texas late yesterday, with more scattered showers and storms forecasted today, albeit less numerous.
Good morning and welcome to Wednesday. Parts of Dallas, Tarrant, Collin, Rockwall, and Ellis County experienced heavy rain late yesterday afternoon and evening, with some areas exceeding four inches and causing flash flooding.
The storms have dissipated, and the radar is quiet at this hour. However, as temperatures rise to the low to mid-90s today, more scattered showers and storms will develop across the area, with coverage at 30%. The greatest chances will be south of Interstate 20.
Tonight will be partly cloudy and pleasant, with lows in the mid-70s. Tomorrow and Friday are expected to be relatively dry, with highs in the low to mid-90s and heat indices slightly above 100 degrees. It is essential to stay hydrated.
I am reintroducing rain chances into the forecast for this weekend, extending into Monday of next week. Disturbances from the Northwest, combined with leftover boundaries and warm surface temperatures, will contribute to afternoon and evening thunderstorms across the area, with coverage at about 30%. Afternoon highs throughout the period will be in the low to mid-90s, with heat indices slightly above 100 degrees.
As of now, Tuesday is expected to be relatively dry, with highs in the mid-90s. We have yet to reach 100 degrees, and I do not foresee this happening within the next week.
Please remember to prioritize safety and turn around if you encounter water-covered roadways with unknown depths. It is crucial to be smart and safe.
Have a great day today and enjoy the weather when you can, it's the only weather you've got.
