Seasonable temperatures through Friday, chance of rain showers and storms late Wednesday into Thursday

Tuesday
National Weather Service - Fort Worth

It still feels like Winter, even though Spring is just hours away. Seasonable temperatures are on the way through most of the week and into the weekend, and a couple of rain chances are in your 7-day forecast.

We begin the final day of Winter with temperatures in the 30s to low 40s. It still feels like Winter with some patchy frost in areas North and NE of DFW.

A beautiful day is shaping up with passing clouds. High temperatures will reach 70°. A south wind has returned and that will keep our mornings a little milder this week, but a lot of clouds will keep the temperatures from getting too much above our average high of 70° through much of the week.

Speaking of 70°, we will reach that again Wednesday with increasing clouds. By tomorrow evening, the dryline in West Texas will get a little bit more active. Showers and storms will be few and far between and weaken as they approach overnight into Thursday morning.

The dryline will retreat on Thursday morning but will return by late Thursday afternoon along with an upper-level disturbance cruising through the south plains. This will spark showers and storms to redevelop Thursday afternoon and evening. There could be a few strong ones and an isolated severe storm, mainly east of I-35E during the afternoon and evening.

Friday through Sunday look decent with increasing wind through the period. Highs on Friday and Saturday will be near 70°. A weak front will back into the area on Saturday but will rapidly retreat to the north on Sunday. Highs Sunday will reach the low to mid-70s.

Our next weather system is due to arrive sometime Monday with a chance for more showers and storms. I'll keep an eye on the severe weather as we get closer.

Below-average temperatures return to North Texas next week. More about that as we get closer.
