Storm chances ramp up by Wednesday

Storm chances ramp up by Wednesday

It wasn't a bad weekend; some of you experienced welcome rain, while others didn't see much at all. Officially, DFW Airport measured 1.10 inches of rain, but areas south of Interstate 20 and west of Interstate 35 saw between 3 to 4 inches.

The radar is quiet this morning, with temperatures in the mid to upper 60s, and we're going to stay rather warm for this time of year all week long, with afternoon highs mainly in the 80s. We'll see a little more sunshine today and then again on Thursday and Friday, but on Tuesday, especially Wednesday, we have our best chance for showers and storms, and some of these could become severe.

This morning, temperatures are very mild for this time of year. I'm not expecting any storms today, but a few showers are possible east of DFW. Tomorrow, they'll creep a little bit closer to us, and I can't rule out some evening showers and storms. We'll see how far east the dry line pushes. Otherwise, we'll have to wait until Wednesday, as the dry line and an upper-level disturbance approach, increasing the threat for severe weather, towards the late afternoon and evening. There may also be some storms early on Wednesday morning, decaying, coming out of West Texas, so we have a couple of shots coming up here, late Wednesday through early Thursday morning.

Otherwise, Thursday and Friday are going to be relatively quiet, with temperatures getting back into the middle 80s, but morning lows will be nice, ranging from 65 to 70 degrees, all the way into early Saturday. A pretty strong cold front arrives Saturday morning, and you'll know it as winds shift to the north and temperatures cool off dramatically. I also can't rule out some showers and storms along the front, late Friday and early Saturday. We're still looking at days five and six, so we'll discuss the timing and the severe weather threats through the week. Otherwise, windy and cooler air moves in, with decreasing clouds, by late Saturday. By Sunday morning, lows will drop into the mid to upper 40s, with highs into the low 70s!

That's a look at your weather. I hope everyone has a great day today, and please enjoy the weather when you can, it's the only weather you've got.
