Sunshine Friday starts a beautiful weekend ahead, but grass fire danger remains

Today: Sunny, breezy and mild.
Today: Sunny, breezy and mild.
National Weather Service - Fort Worth

We're waking up to temperatures in the forties this morning! My golden rule about planting early in north Texas: either wait until the mesquite trees bud or after Easter, we can still get frosty weather this time of the year. This being said, we have another strong cold front coming through the area by the middle of next week, so I'd hold off if I were you. However, it's not too early to throw down some weed and feed, do that today or Sunday if possible. We got some rain moving in late this evening, but won't amount to too much. A greater rain chance arrives late Sunday and then again next Monday.

In between rain chances, we have some pretty decent weather around coming up. Today will be gorgeous with sunshine, highs will reach the mid seventies. Unfortunately, grassfire danger increases Fort Worth -> west through the weekend.

Rain chances tonight: Showers and storms will move into the area between 9 PM and 2 AM this evening. Nothing severe, but there could be a little noise and some brief gusty wind. Small hail? Yes it's possible, but doubtful.

The overall weekend forecast looks pretty nice. Warming temperatures tomorrow with a high in the upper seventies. Low to mid eighties for Sunday.

By late Sunday evening, the dry line will surge out of west Texas, producing some showers and storms. Some of those could survive and move into the area late evening into early morning Monday.

The best storm chance arrives the 2nd half of Monday, as a cold front sneaks in from the northwest. Some storms could be strong to severe. I will monitor.

By Tuesday morning, skies will clear and temps will warm into the mid seventies. By Wednesday morning, a stronger cold front plows through the area, dropping temperatures into the mid sixties for highs Wednesday and especially Thursday. Morning lows Thursday and especially Friday morning may get down into the upper thirties in some areas. So don't plant your gardens yet!
