Temperatures warm up ahead of weekend rain chances

Another frigid morning enveloped North Texas Friday morning. Meanwhile, a powerful storm system is poised to bring much-needed rain to Southern California's Valley regions and snow to higher elevations over the weekend. This system will impact the weather in North Texas from Wednesday to Friday next week.

Temperatures plummeted into the upper teens to mid-20s on Friday morning. Ample sunshine is expected, with afternoon highs reaching the mid-50s, aligning with the average high of 57 degrees.

Friday night will be chilly, but temperatures will not be as frigid as in previous nights, dipping into the upper 20s to low 30s. Saturday's forecast appears decent, with increasing cloud cover during the latter part of the day. Highs are expected to reach the upper 50s, consistent with average temperatures for this time of year.

Clouds will rapidly increase by Saturday night, and showers will move in from the south. The best rain chances will be along and east of Central Expressway and Interstate 35E, south of DFW.

A cold front will sweep through the area Saturday night, causing temperatures to drop into the mid-to-upper 40s by Sunday afternoon. While it is uncertain, some areas may experience drizzle throughout the day, accompanied by a north wind blowing at 10 to 20 mph.

Monday and most of Tuesday are expected to be relatively calm as a powerful storm system stalls across the desert Southwest before gradually moving eastward from Wednesday to Friday. High temperatures on Monday will reach the mid-50s, while Tuesday's highs will be in the upper 50s. By Tuesday night, the chance of rain will return to the area.

The forecast for Wednesday through Friday is uncertain at this point, as it depends on the speed at which the storm system moves across the state. The data suggests that the best chance of widespread rain will be on Wednesday and again on Friday, as the entire system sweeps through the area. Another factor being monitored is a cold front forecast to move into the area on Thursday, which may push rain chances southward and then lead to more widespread rain on Friday as the system moves across the area. The high temperatures on Wednesday will reach the 60s, cooling into the low 50s on Friday.
