Temperatures will be above average Thursday with afternoon highs pushing 90 degrees

Today's forecast
NWS

Welcome to Thursday! We're starting off a little milder this morning than the past several mornings, upper 50s to low 60s. The average low this time of the year is now 61 degrees. Average high is down to 82 degrees. Temperatures will be above average today and tomorrow with afternoon highs pushing 90 degrees today. Possible as hot as the low 90s on Friday!

By Friday evening, a pretty strong cold front will move into the area, dropping temperatures into the 60s for high school football, especially along and north of Interstate 20. Morning lows on Saturday will dip into the 50s area wide, with a north wind at 10 to 20 mph. It'll feel fantastic Saturday morning!

It'll be very comfortable for the Texas/OU game on Saturday. Kickoff temperature at 11:00 a.m. will be near 70°. Partly to mostly sunny skies will dominate the day, with highs in the mid to upper 70s. Even cooler along and north of Highway 380. Unfortunately, the front moves back to the north on Sunday with temperatures back in the low 80s.

By Sunday night and Monday, some scattered showers and storms will break out south of the warm front, especially north and NW of DFW. Highs on Monday will reach the low to mid 80s. We stay dry on Tuesday with highs in the mid 80s but showers and storms may finally enter the picture sometime Wednesday with highs in the middle 80s.

Now, a lot of you may be seeing a lot of posts on social media showing a 6 to 10 day above normal precipitation outlook, showing a bullseye over Texas late next week. Please keep in mind this is over 7 days away and is subject to change. This is a forecast trend and not in stone. Do I hope this happens? Yes! Will it happen? Time will tell, but don't get your hopes up..... because when one is in a drought, with no rain now for 32 days straight, forecast trends tend to turn out on the drier side than on the wetter side. Not trying to be a pessimist here....I'm just using my forecasting skills and historical facts to make my hypothesis. Stay tuned!

Have a terrific day and please enjoy the weather when you can, it's the only weather you've got!
