A strong cold front moved through North Texas, ushering in chilly air for this time of year. The good news is it won't last long, as temperatures moderate toward the weekend. There is a slight rain chance late Friday and early Saturday, then again late Sunday and Monday.

Temperatures fell into the mid to upper 40s behind the cold front with the north wind at 10-15 mph. The wind will pick up as the morning and early afternoon wear on. Wind gusts could reach 30 mph, holding temperatures in the mid to upper 40s all day long. Wind chills in some areas will be in the upper 30s.

A light freeze is expected overnight under a clear sky. Temperatures will fall between 28° and 33°. North winds at 10 to 15 mph.

Sunny and cool on Wednesday with light winds. Afternoon highs will reach the mid to upper 50s. Fifty-nine is the average for this time of the year.

Another light freeze is expected in some areas on Thursday morning, especially east and northeast of DFW. Sunny near 60 degrees by afternoon as south winds return.

Friday looks nice with afternoon highs warming into the upper 60s with passing high clouds. Another weak front comes into the area late Friday into Saturday bringing a slight chance of rain. As of now, it looks like the best chance will be in east Texas, but precipitation totals will be light in those areas as well.

Most of the weekend is looking OK with mild temperatures. Partly cloudy mid-60s for Saturday, partly cloudy, windy, and mild for Sunday with highs near 70 degrees.

By Sunday night, a chance of showers return. This change will continue into Monday with highs in the mid-60s. Nothing too cold is expected after today and tomorrow and no severe weather is anticipated through early next week.
