Temperatures this morning have risen above freezing in most areas of North Texas, except for regions east of a line from Sherman to McKinney to Dallas to Waxahachie, where temperatures have dropped to the upper 20s to near 30. Please exercise caution when commuting to work this morning, as black ice may form on bridges, overpasses, and untreated roads.
Two cold fronts are expected to pass through the area through Friday night. The first front will arrive this afternoon, bringing north winds of up to 25 mph and temperatures in the low to mid-50s. Although it will be chilly, the warmer temperatures should alleviate the remaining ice in your neighborhoods. You will need to wear a jacket throughout the day, especially during the second half of the day, as wind chills will drop to the low 40s during your commute home.
Tonight's lows will dip into the upper 20s to low 30s, potentially leading to the formation of black ice, particularly in areas with slushy roads and subdivisions. Please be cautious. Friday is expected to be sunny, with highs in the mid to upper 40s.
An arctic front will arrive by Friday night, bringing extremely cold temperatures but no frozen precipitation. It is essential to take necessary precautions to prevent pipe bursts and ensure your pets are indoors and warm. Saturday morning lows will drop into the upper teens and low 20s. Wind chills will drop into the single digits! BRRRRR!!
This weekend will be sunny but cold, with temperatures struggling to rise above freezing on Saturday. Wind chills will remain in the 20s throughout the day. A rapid warm-up is expected on Sunday, although temperatures will drop to the upper teens to low 20s in the morning. A south wind will return on Sunday afternoon, warming temperatures back into the 40s.
The warm-up will continue into next week, with afternoon highs nearing 60 on Monday and Tuesday, along with increasing cloudiness by Tuesday afternoon. There is a slight chance of showers on Wednesday, with highs in the 50s. Currently, there is no indication of Arctic air invading the area next week, and no wintry precipitation is expected.
Have a great day and enjoy the weather when you can, it's the ONLY weather you've got!!
