Typical July weather will continue across north Texas for the foreseeable future

Heat Advisory
National Weather Service - Fort Worth

Typical July weather will continue across north Texas for the foreseeable future, along with no rain and hot temperatures.

Our average high this time of the year is getting into the middle 90s, but unfortunately we'll be a good 7° to 10° above average over the next 7 days. Heat Advisories have been placed across all of North Texas through at least Friday. Excessive heat warnings may also be issued this weekend and into early next week, as temperatures soar to or above 105°. Factor in the humidity, it'll feel close to 110° in some areas by this weekend.

Yesterday we hit 101° at DFW. That's the 12th time this year we've had triple digit heat. By this time next week, we will have hit the triple digit 20 times. That's average for the entire year. Wish I had better news.

Afternoon highs today through Friday will range between 101° and 104°. Heat index values will be slightly above 105°.

We heat up even more this weekend into the early next week, with afternoon highs ranging between 103° and 106°. It may even be hotter than that in some areas, as a weak cold front adds compression to the atmosphere. Unfortunately, there won't be any cooler air behind this front and it should stall somewhere along Interstate 20. One or two lucky people may see a pop-up shower and storm on Saturday, but chances are very slim.

Subtle changes may occur by the middle to end of next week, as another cold front tries to back into the area. This one we'll have a little more of a punch with it , and may knock temperatures back into the 90s, but don't get your hopes up yet.
