Monday is the last day of March and a cool air mass is in place. The air mass will warm fast and become unstable. The dry line in West Texas will get active, a cold front will stall across the area, and several upper-level disturbances will impact DFW through Saturday. The threat of severe weather will increase.
Temperatures fell into the 40s across much of the area early Monday. A cold front moved through on Sunday afternoon for a nice cool morning. A beautiful day is in store. Afternoon highs will top out into the low 70s, which is average for this time of year.
Clouds will roll in on Monday night, but no precipitation is expected. Tuesday morning lows will dip into the mid-50s. Expect morning clouds and afternoon sun with highs reaching the low to mid-80s.
The weather slowly starts to get interesting late Tuesday, off and on through Saturday, as a strong upper-level low cuts across the Four Corners areas of the western United States Wednesday through Friday. Spokes of energy will come across North Texas about every 24 hours. That, coupled with the dry line surging in from the west and a cold front stalling across the area, will produce waves of showers and storms, mainly during the evening and overnight hours. Some of these storms may become severe. All modes of severe weather are possible, especially late Wednesday into early Thursday, and then again on Friday. Some areas could see rainfall totals over 5 inches.
Late Friday into Saturday, a cold front slowly moves through the area, but the rain continues, some of it could be heavy at times, with thunder. The severity looks to remain low. Temperatures will hover in the 60s all day Saturday. The sun will be back out on Sunday, but it'll be windy and chilly. Afternoon highs will struggle to get out of the low 50s.
