We are waking up to temperatures ranging from 55゚ to 63゚ across north Texas. A south wind is back and will start to pick up gusting to 25 mph today. 35 mph tomorrow. That will warm temperatures up into the mid eighties today and possibly into the upper eighties tomorrow.
Data is all over the place as far as the timing of the cold front on Mother's Day. If it comes in earlier, temperatures will only reach the upper seventies. If it comes in later... towards the afternoon and evening, high temperatures will warm into the mid eighties. There's also a chance of showers and storms along the front, but nothing severe is expected at this time. Best chances for strong to severe storms will be in east Texas.
Behind the front, northerly winds and very chilly air for this time of the year will filter and to north Texas. Afternoon highs Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday will only be in the low sixties believe it or not. A good 20゚ cooler than average.
An upper level disturbance will be parked in the desert southwest early next werk, will slowly, I mean slowly drift towards the Lone Star State the 1st three days of next week. Waves of light to moderate rain will work its way across the area starting late Monday night through Wednesday. No severe weather is expected. As of now, it looks like the heaviest rain will be along and south of a Lufkin to Austin to Fredericksburg line.
This system will move east of north Texas late Wednesday in early Thursday morning, bringing an end to the rain. The sun will return by Thursday.
Temperatures will slowly warm into the seventies by the end of next week.
