We're a good 10゚ warmer this morning then we were at this time yesterday, that's because clouds and southerly winds have returned to north Texas.
This southerly winds will pick up and gust to 20 mph today and tomorrow and up to 25 mph Friday and Saturday. This fetch of wind is coming right off of the Gulf of Mexico and that means humidity will be much higher during the afternoon hours than what we experienced yesterday. Factor in the mid to upper 90゚ temperatures and the heat index value will approach 105゚ through Saturday. This may prompt heat advisories to be issued for north Texas, especially tomorrow and Friday. No rain is in the forecast through the period.
And then, the pattern changes. Starting late Saturday all away through most of next week, scattered showers and thunderstorms are back in the forecast.
What's causing this you ask? A slow moving cold front will stall somewhere across north Texas on Sunday and linger in the area through most of next week. This front will act like a railroad track for disturbances to move along, increasing rain chances and dropping the afternoon highs into the 80s through most of next week! As of now, I'm not expecting anything too severe, but pockets of very heavy rain, gusty wind, and dangerous cloud to ground lightning will be the threats.
On a side note, please make sure you check your back seat for pets and children before leaving your vehicle. Also, don't forget to use mosquito repellent that contains deet. The mosquito population is growing daily.
