Enjoy the next few days as the weather will be fantastic. Starting Friday, showers and storms are expected to return to the forecast, with a few potentially becoming severe over the weekend and into early next week. Our weather pattern is slowly changing, folks.
Good morning and welcome to Tuesday. We are experiencing another cool and comfortable morning in North Texas at this hour, with temperatures having fallen into the 40s in some outlying areas under a partly cloudy sky. Today will be mostly cloudy, with afternoon highs reaching the mid-70s. Yesterday's high was 74 degrees, and 75 degrees is our average high for today.
A warm-up is expected tomorrow through Friday, with afternoon highs approaching 80 degrees each day. South winds will increase, with gusts reaching up to 20 mph during this period.
The weather pattern will change late Friday through the weekend, as back-to-back upper-level disturbances move into Southern California through early next week. The first disturbance will eject out of Southern California this weekend, while a spoke of energy will move around South Texas on Friday, producing showers and storms to our south. Some of these may affect our area late Friday and early Saturday. The first disturbance will weaken as it moves into the Four Corners area of the Intermountain West this weekend, igniting the dry line and leading to the formation of numerous showers and storms on our west late Saturday. If they survive, we could experience a significant impact late Saturday night into Sunday noon. A few of these storms may become severe, but the time of day will be in our favor, so we will continue to monitor the situation.
The second disturbance will move into the desert Southwest early next week. The speed, track, and strength of this disturbance will determine the level of weather activity across West Texas early next week. There is a chance of more scattered strong and severe storms moving in waves early next week. Temperatures this weekend will be near 80 degrees.
Please note that both of these disturbances are still over the open waters of the Pacific Ocean. Time will determine the severity of the weather, the amount of rainfall, and the timing of the precipitation starting Friday through the middle of next week. We will continue to provide updates on this evolving weather pattern.
In the meantime, enjoy the beautiful weather while it lasts, as it will be the only pleasant weather we have for a while.
