1 dead, another hospitalized in Montebello crash

One person was killed and another hospitalized as the result of a crash on the Pomona (60) Freeway in Montebello, authorities said Monday.

The crash was first reported to the California Highway Patrol at 8:27 p.m. Sunday on the eastbound Pomona Freeway just west of the Garfield Avenue off-ramp.

The witness said a car and a motorcycle collided and the motorcyclist was down in middle lanes, according to the CHP.

One person was pronounced dead at the scene just before 9 p.m. and a person with a major injury was taken to a hospital by ambulance, the CHP reported.

A SigAlert was issued at 8:54 p.m., shutting down all eastbound lanes. The lanes were reopened about 1:30 a.m. Monday.
