
A search is underway for a suspect who attacked two women in Venice and left them unconscious.
It happened on April 6 at 10:30 pm., according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
The first attack took place in the 2700 block of Strongs Drive, while the second attack took place an hour later near the Sherman Canal. Police said both women were struck with a hard object, rendering them unconscious. Both victims sustained “significant injuries.”
At least one of the victims is still hospitalized.
In a statement, Los Angeles City Councilwoman Tracy Park called on the LAPD to devote every resource necessary” to investigate the attacks.

``I have been working directly with Chief [Dominic] Choi and Capt.[Michael] Applegate and remain focused on ensuring that this criminal is apprehended, charged, and prosecuted to the full extent of the law,” she said.
“This behavior will not be tolerated, and violent criminals will be held accountable."
A department press release described the suspect as a black or Hispanic male with medium to dark complexion with short hair trimmed around the ears.
Police urged residents “to be aware of their surroundings and notify the police of any suspicious activity.”
"I was absolutely furious and heartbroken to learn about these violence assaults on two women in my community," Councilmember Traci Park told KNX News' Craig Fiegener.
Park said the LAPD has added additional patrols around the Venice canals, and officers have been reviewing security camera footage from nearby businesses and residents. She said police may soon release an image of the suspect.
