
A firefighter and three others were injured in a fire that tore through an apartment building in Gardena and fire officials Tuesday are investigating the cause.
Firefighters sent to the 12900 block of South Vermont Avenue about 11:55 a.m. Monday extinguished the flames in the two-story building in about 45 minutes, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department.

According to a report from the scene, four apartments were involved -- three with interior damage and the fourth with damage to the balcony.
In addition to the four injured, 28 people were left without housing due to the fire, ABC 7 reports. The Red Cross was contacted to assist those who were displaced with temporary housing.
Some firefighting personnel remained on scene dousing hot spots. The cause of the fire was under investigation.
