
A 5-year-old horse with eight races and two victories in his career has died after suffering a training injury at Santa Anita, state horse racing officials confirmed.
Sir Atticus suffered an unspecified musculoskeletal injury Tuesday at the Arcadia track, according to the California Horse Racing Board.

His most recent race was a third-place finish at Santa Anita on Feb. 18. He was owned by Dorothy Ingordo, Jeffrey Jones and James Jones, and trained by John Shirreffs, according to the industry website Equibase. His jockey was Mike Smith.
Sir Atticus is the fifth horse to die from a training injury at Santa Anita this year.
