Responding officers found the injured girl inside the home and she was taken to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries, Carringer said.

Although the shooting was still under investigation on Thursday, Carringer said initial examination of the child revealed she was likely injured by shrapnel or fragments when the bullets struck her home. The girl was reported in stable condition, he said.

No arrests had been made and no suspect description was available.

Anyone with information on the case was urged to call Anaheim police at (714) 765-1900, or Orange County Crime Stoppers at (855) 847-6227.
