Singer Adele is known for hitting high notes on her records, but she isn’t as enthused about the high cost of living in her hometown.

In an interview with British Vogue, Adele said Los Angeles provided a much more affordable real estate market for her investments than across the pond. Her portfolio of properties in the area totals around $30 million.

“The kind of house I have in LA I could never afford in London. Ever,” the British vocalist told the magazine, favoring the sun and palm trees over London’s dreary weather.

Adele said she wanted to live in a city with “fresh air and somewhere where I could see the sky.”

The 15-time Grammy award-winning singer owns three homes in a gated Beverly Hills community. In 2016, she purchased a house on Hidden Valley Road for $9.5 million. A few years later, she bought a second home for nearly $11 million. The singer closed on the third home in May, spending $10 million for a 5,500-square-foot mansion.

For reference, the average home in the London region costs £659,000, or just under $900,000. A house comparable to Adele’s 5-bedroom Los Angeles home could start at around $16 million. The most expensive penthouse in London wants a massive $247 million.

Fans are eagerly anticipating Adele's fourth studio album, entitled 30. She's expected to release the first single Friday.
