The Amazon Web Services outage affected thousands of companies such as Ring, Venmo, and Snapchat. The impacts of the outage were also felt by travelers at LAX early Monday morning.
There were reports of kiosks being down, and passengers apparently had trouble checking in their bags and their flights.
One man told KNX News’ Jon Baird he couldn’t connect to the United Airlines app.
“I had a lot of problems with it,” he said. “They solved it, but my flight was gone already.”
Another man said his wife was getting overcharged for a Lyft ride.
“She was getting $200 charges instead of $30,” he said.
Lance Ulanoff, TechRadar’s Editor at Large, described the outage as an internet earthquake.
“It has impacted everything, not just in the U.S. but around the world,” he told Baird. “Globally, this has been an issue.”
The worst part of the outage was between roughly midnight and 4 a.m. PST.
