Another home in Encino was burglarized on Thursday night as burglars continue to target houses in the San Fernando Valley.

Police responded to the home on Rancho Street at 8:19 p.m. The back door to the house was shattered and the burglars ransacked the place before taking off with jewelry and purses.

KNX News’ Jon Baird spoke with one resident who walked into a burglary-in-process in her own home two years ago.

“I came over from my daughter's house and I opened the door and one guy put [a] gun [on] my head and five guys go inside and start robbing me,” she said.

Also on Thursday night, a home was broken into in Sherman Oaks. Investigators told Fox 11 that the homeowner confronted the burglars who then ran off.

These incidents come after the LAPD said on Tuesday that they’ve seen a 40% increase in residential burglaries in an Encino neighborhood. In one instance, one house was broken into twice.
