Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department investigators are asking for the public’s help in identifying the driver of a vehicle allegedly involved in a hit-and-run collision that killed a 72-year-old man in Diamond Bar.
According to investigators, at approximately 10:30 p.m. on July 4, Bruce Bodel was walking north on Pernath Avenue and was crossing the street at Lycoming Street when he was stuck by a vehicle.
The driver of the vehicle did not stop to render aid to Bodel, who suffered major injuries and died as a result of the collision days later.
“He always liked to go for walks,” said Bodel’s niece, Jessica. “That was just his habit.”
Sergeant Mike Luder said the vehicle is believed to have traffic damage to the front end and a cracked windshield.
Investigators are asking anyone with video footage of the intersection or anyone who witnessed the collision to contact the Walnut substation at 909-859-2817.
