The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County dropped 1.3 cents Friday to $5.13, a day after decreasing two-tenths of a cent, and its 49th decrease in the past 50 days.
The average price is 5.6 cents less than one week ago, 61.4 cents lower than one month ago and 29.7 cents cheaper than one year ago, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service. It has dropped $1.364 since rising to a record $6.494 on Oct. 5, 2022.
The Orange County average price dropped 1.4 cents Friday to $4.983, a day after decreasing six-tenths of a cent. It is 5.6 cents less than one week ago, 58.3 cents lower than one month ago and 34.5 cents cheaper than one year ago. It has dropped $1.474 since rising to a record $6.459 on Oct. 5, 2022.
"Those taking holiday road trips over Thanksgiving will spend about 30 to 40 cents per gallon less than at this time last year in California, and also less than last year in most other states," said Doug Shupe, the Automobile Club of Southern California's corporate communications manager.
The national average price dropped for the 50th consecutive day, falling nine-tenths of a cent to $3.333. It is 5.7 cents less than one week ago, 25.1 cents lower than one month ago and 39.2 cents cheaper than one year ago. It has dropped $1.683 since rising to a record $5.016 on June 14, 2022.
