Give Me the Future is the fourth studio album from Bastille and marks their first since 2019. It’s futuristic in many manners, which was the goal when Dan Smith and his bandmates set out to make the record.
If there’s any comparison to describe Give Me the Future, it’s that it’s a science fiction movie in the form of an album. Smith told ABC Audio the album "looked at escapism through the lens of the future, through the lens of technology, and our relationship with technology and what that then says for our relationships with ourselves and other people."
“I guess as lockdowns and the pandemic progressed, the idea of making this science fiction album emerged with these songs," he continued.

Back in December, Smith told Audacy the album was “very us,” but was quick to say “it’s also kind of different.”
“It’s a concept album, it’s about the future. We’re really interested in what it’s about and the themes of the songs. The sonics of it have been really fun to put together,” Smith said at the time.
His recent comments to ABC Audio echoed those thoughts. "We wanted to use the sonics of the album, and the arc of the album, to draw you in and pull you out of it," he said. "I guess the whole album is drawing you back-and-forward, in-and-out of your head, in-and-out of the future."
Give Me the Future is now available everywhere.
