The 47-year-old was convicted of two counts of forcible rape on May 31.
In his first trial, Masterson was previously charged with raping three women; however, it ended on November 2022 with a mistrial.
In his retrial, he was only charged with the rape of two women.
During the victim impact statements, one of the women Masterson was convicted of raping claimed he “takes pride in hurting women,” and added that he forced shame and fear into her.
Outside the court, Deputy District Attorney Reinhold Mueller said justice was served for the victims.
I've gotten to know the victims in this case quite well over the years and I can tell you they are strong, they are committed to making sure that justice gets served and today they got it,” he said.
Shawn Holley, a defense attorney for Masterson, said they are very disappointed by the sentence.
“However, for the past several months, a team of the top lawyers in the country has been reviewing the transcripts of the trial,” she said. “They have identified a number of significant evidentiary and constitutional issues which they will address in briefs to both the state and federal courts.”
KNX News’ Margaret Carrero said Masterson had no reaction during his sentencing.
