According to broadcast reports, a 23-year-old woman who appeared to have recently given birth, arrived at the emergency room of a Woodland Hills hospital just before 6 p.m. Tuesday. The woman had extensive bleeding and around 7:15 p.m. officers then escorted the woman to her residence in the area of Burbank Boulevard and Woodlake Avenue, ABC 7 reported.
Officers found the baby, who police said was believed to be a day old, dead inside the home.
NBC 4 reported the baby was a girl and was found inside a trash can.
Tiffany Feder, who identified herself as the mother's attorney, told NBC 4 her client is cooperating with police.
"We're going to let the investigation run its course," she said.
Police remained at the scene for several hours interviewing witnesses.
