Fender recently revealed that he was asked to sing on John’s newly released collaboration album, The Lockdown Sessions, however, he was not able to appear on the album because he was working on a project of his own.

In a new interview with the Daily Star’s Wired column, the “Seventeen Going Under” singer discussed that his collab with Elton was merely postponed and will happen soon. He shared, “It sounds awful to say, ‘I was too busy to work with Elton’, but I needed to finish my album.”

“Me and Elton will definitely happen at some point. We just need to find time to get into the studio. We want to make something special together. I’d love us to make something stripped back, that sounds organic with a band,” added Fender.

This year Sam released his sophomore album, Seventeen Going Under. He told NME, “We poured our hearts into it and worked our arses off for it. We wrote 50 songs for this record, so it took a lot of whittling down, man!”

Summer 2022 will see Fender playing a large-scale show in London’s Finsbury Park alongside acts such as Fontaines D.C.Declan McKenna, and Beabadoobee, and Goat Girl.
