
Fire ripped through a commercial building in Vernon Thursday, sending thick black smoke into the air, but there were no immediate reports of any injuries.
Firefighters were dispatched at approximately 10:31 a.m. to the fire at South Soto Street and East Vernon Avenue, the Los Angeles County Fire Department reported.
The fire quickly went to a second alarm, with the fire department summoning additional crews to the scene.
ABC7 reported the fire was in a former Farmer John meat facility, which was being demolished.
No other details were immediately available.
