Five SoCal cities make list of safest cities in America

LOS ANGELES (KNX) – Five Southern California cities ranked high on MoneyGeek’s list of the safest cities in America.

West Covina took the number three spot, Jurupa Valley took the ninth spot, Rancho Cucamonga took 13 and Glendale took 14.

Doug Milnes, Money Geek's Head of Data and Analytics, told LA’s Moning News that crime data from the FBI and local authorities, as well as “academic research on the cost of crime” to come up with the list.

“So this academic research published in the Nation Institute of Health reflects the different costs of these crimes to society, so it’s not our academic research,” he explained. “But what we’re doing is combining that academic research with the reported crime stats. So each city can have its own one number of what is the cost of community of crime.”

Naperville, Illinois took home the number one spot with Sunnyvale, California at number two.
