The 23-year-old tells us that the new 12-track mixtape was inspired by many artists he grew up listening to like, Blink-182 and Three Six Mafia. He says “it is really just a crazy kind of evidence of like manifestation and the project’s been a trip for me because, like I said, I started playing guitar and stuff because I love Blink, and I started making beats and like rapping because I love three six. The features of the three six and Blink go back to back on the tracklist…. that was really crazy to me to have those names on the tracklist.”

The Canadian-born singer explains, “Most of the album was made with me just sitting alone for hours at my laptop picking sounds.” He continues, “I flew home in like October, to my hometown in Canada to finish it, and I really wrapped up most of the project in my Grandma’s guest room… I think a lot of it is just introspective and how my mind feels.”

The up-and-coming rocker feels that the new project serves as an introduction into his world and that if fans don’t get it right away, they will once they let it sink in.

The making of Grace’s album spans both pre-pandemic and during the pandemic. “‘Scumbag’ was released pre-pandemic, but I had to throw that on because that one really changed my life,” shares the artist. However, for the whole curation of the album, Goody says that that occurred in the midst of the pandemic. The track “Auburn,” is about the pandemic explains the singer, adding, “that’s about trying to be in love during the pandemic.”

Don’t Forget Where You Came From is both physical and emotional for Goody. The title stems from the music that Grace grew up on. “I really wanted some of the project to feel like some of the narrative is coming from like 16-year-old, who can’t wait to run away from home, and then some of its coming from 23-year-old me, whose like ‘what’s going on right now...’” in regards to year the world has just experienced.

Don’t Forget Where You Came From is available everywhere.
