LOS ANGELES (CNS) - Firefighters waged an offensive battle this morning against a greater alarm blaze at a row of two-story attached town homes in the Sun Valley area of Los Angeles.
The fire was first reported at 2:59 a.m. at 1114 W. Arminta St., said the Los Angeles Fire Department's Brian Humphrey.
It took 106 firefighters 39 minutes to put out the blaze, Humphrey said.
Arriving firefighters found heavy flames in the attached garage of one centrally located unit which quickly spread to the second floor of that unit and one adjacent unit, he said. A nearby four-story apartment building sustained minor radiant heat damage.
"One LAFD Firefighter engaged from the outset in the fierce firefight, experienced exhaustion," Humphrey said. "Pursuant to protocol, he was taken to an area hospital in good condition for medical clearance. No other injuries reported."
Four adult residents of the town homes were displaced by fire damage and received assistance from the American Red Cross, he said.
The cause of the fire was under investigation.
