Grimes jokes about starting up her own 'space commune' following Elon Musk split

She's probably joking, right?

Dreamy space-pop goddess Grimes had a very Grimes reaction to the revelation that she and Elon Musk had decided to call off the launch of their relationship.

Singer, songwriter, and visual artist Grimes and SpaceX founder Musk became an item in 2018 and now share a son, X Æ A-Xii, together. Earlier this week it was confirmed that the pair would be separating after three years, and when asked about her future plans, Grimes hinted she would be heading into space on her own.

In an email to Page Six, Grimes (real name Claire Boucher) said jokingly(?), “I’ll be colonizing Europa separately from Elon for the lesbian space commune.” The singer is of course referencing her ex's plans with NASA to explore Jupiter's moon, scheduled to start in 2022. And while we're pretty sure she's joking -- we would never put anything past her. She did raise $6 million in 20 minutes selling "crypto-art." Anything is possible.

Earlier this week, Musk blamed his hectic work schedule on the eccentric duo's unfortunate semi-separation, saying “It’s mostly that my work at SpaceX and Tesla requires me to be primarily in Texas or traveling overseas and her work is primarily in LA."
