A local group has stepped in to help find the person who vandalized St. Peter’s Italian Catholic Church in Chinatown.

“Hands off Christopher Columbus” has offered a $10,000 reward for any leads to finding the person behind the vandalism.

On Monday, the church was found with red paint splattered all over it. Messages were found spray-painted outside the church, including one that read, “land back,” according to CBS LA.

“This is total desecration to the church of St. Peter’s, who has served the Los Angeles community since 1906,” Raul Montes Jr., an activist, told the news outlet.

The pastor told KNX 1070 the vandalism occurred between 7 a.m. and 7:30 a.m. There were no security cameras and no witnesses.

The Los Angeles Police Department is investigating the incident as a hate crime.
